Abstract:

The design requirements for steel structures in design codes and guidelines include very important improvements in last two decades. Especially, wide-ranging revisions have been recommended in the computation of link member's lengths in eccentrically braced frames. This study aims to investigate the seismic performances of steel V-braced type eccentric braced frames (EBF) which are preferred as lateral load bearing system in multi-story steel structures. For this purpose, seismic evaluations using nonlinear pushover analysis have been conducted for typical 3 and 8-story buildings with eccentrically braced frames. Analysis results have been discussed in terms of seismic strength, deformation demands.
