Abstract:

Metaverse, which has become an ideal structuring area with its user base increasing day by day, is a three-dimensional virtual environment where users can create and manage content and simulate physical life actions developed for gaming, entertainment and shopping purposes. In addition to content such as social interaction and entertainment in these environments, visual aesthetics and design integrity are also very important. In designing 3D structures for platform users, it is assumed that designs in metaverse environments are expected to have aesthetic and visual appeal, just like in our physical world. The techniques used in 3D model designs on Metaverse platforms are another factor that has an impact on the operation and performance of the application. For this reason, it seems that designers need appropriate design methods in creating 3D models on metaverse platforms with blockchain and web 3.0 technology infrastructure. Within the scope of the thesis research, we set out with the question of how to make a more aesthetic design despite the restrictive role of the limits in the working scene on 3D building models in the blockchain-based metaverse platform Decentraland, and it was aimed to increase the visual effect based on the design elements that are thought to be effective in building modeling. In this regard, 3D building designs on the Decentraland platform were examined and their relationship with design elements was also examined. Among the designs on the Decentraland platform, 6 popular buildings were selected according to the random selection method. These selected building designs were examined using descriptive analysis technique in the context of 3D design elements. The use of angular and upright forms, matte colors, realistic texture and static design elements provides a realistic effect to the structure; it has been determined that geometric and asymmetrical shapes, repetitive forms, oval borders, vibrant and bright colors, neon lighting and animated graphic elements provide a surreal effect. As a result of these investigations, it was determined that the platform consists mainly of structures with a surreal theme. In the last part of the study, an application study including metaverse structure design, where surreal design elements are taken as a reference, was made and design suggestions for designers and developers were presented.
