Abstract:
In this study, the analyses of the most commonly used methods for kamancheh (a traditional Azerbaijani instrument) education in Azerbaijan conservatories, namely the Ramiz Mirishli & Nazim Mirishli method and the Ofelia Imanova & Rena Recebova method, have been conducted. The research methodology employed in the study is descriptive and scanning method. The study begins by discussing the principles of instruction, followed by providing essential information about the history, education, and method studies of the kamancheh instrument. The methods are then analyzed from an interdisciplinary perspective, with all the topics covered in the examined methods, such as open string exercises, right-hand technique, left-hand technique, and fifth position exercises, being analyzed separately. The analyses reveal the differences between the two methods and emphasize that the instructional methods and techniques adopted play a significant role in determining these differences. Through the comparison of the methods, it is observed that the more recent method appears to be more preferable in terms of the instructional approach compared to the earlier one. For instance, it is noted that the Ramiz Mirishli & Nazim Mirishli method does not follow a predictable sequence based on instructional principles, whereas the Ofelia Imanova & Rena Recebova method considers a predictable sequence from simple to complex and from easy to challenging, based on instructional principles and methods. The study concludes with a detailed discussion about the suitability of the analyzed methods for the kamancheh instrument. Overall, the aim of the analysis conducted based on these kamancheh education methods is to provide valuable contributions to academics and music researchers who intend to develop instructional methods for kamancheh education.
