Bothfor transnational immigrants and for the newly arrived city, the spatializationand adaptation processes of the immigrant identity have an effect thattransforms the local identity. While the immigrants establish bonds with thenew settlements they arrived at, they also create an effect that changes andtransforms the local dynamics of this new geography and the meaning of thespace. At the stages of the spatial interaction process of transnationalmigrants, places where they feel they attached, avoid, unique places they ownor recreate, and transnational places emerge. The aim of the thesis study is tounderstand the processes of adding new meanings to the place and creating new placesor to explore place production practices by considering the settlement processof transnational immigrants in the Zeytinburnu district, which is the mostexperienced in terms of immigration and therefore a multicultural settlementarea of Istanbul, the largest refugee city in the world. In this respect, the thesis study will useprocess-city-place-oriented two-stage and mixed method research findings whileevaluating the urban data collected locally. In addition, by analyzing theplace production practices of transnational immigrants in the light ofqualitative and quantitative data, it will reveal the basic urban indicatorsand spatial clues required to ensure that adaptation and inclusive planningpolicies can be produced at the local scale.
