Abstract:

The type of fabric called Şile cloth, which has an important place in the Turkish fabric weaving tradition today; It has given a special identity to the Şile district with its material structure and weaving technique. Productions made from Şile cloth are more than just textile products, they are representation tools that combine functionality with traditional motifs from the historical process to the present day and reflect the aesthetic forms of cultural thought. For this reason, Şile cloth production; It has an important role in preserving the identity that is developed and transferred and with examples in terms of aesthetic methods. Şile cloth production process; It also attracts attention with the social aspects it brings. In the adventure ranging from material procurement to weaving and processing; Along with the artistic features in the diversity of production stages and the transformation of fabrics into personal use items, it also provides social solidarity, information sharing and strengthening of emotional and social bonds that bring people closer together. For this reason, Şile cloth production is not only limited to the personal efforts of women, but also provides an area where social ties are strengthened and cultural heritage is kept alive by new generations who learn by observing this solidarity. Traditional motifs in textile products made of Şile cloth provide opportunities for the fashion industry, with their compliance with today's aesthetic understanding. Natural cotton fabrics woven with the plaincloth technique find meaning with the motifs embroidered on them that characterize the universe, sky, nature and places, events and situations that find value in life, and each textile production becomes a work of art with motif and technical variations. In the study, 5 different pattern designs from the traditional motifs used in Şile cloth embroidery from the continuation of Şile cloth processing motifs and the portability of the future to the future were designed. Designs are designed by clinging to identity without breaking the motif wealth of the Şile cloth. All efforts and teachings for the protection and promotion of Şile cloth are an important value that contributes to raising awareness not only as an economic activity, but also with a sense of cultural responsibility.
