Abstract:The aim of this study is to examine the effect of teaching activities based on the Successful Intelligence Model on mathematics achievement and Successful Intelligence scores of 4th grade primary school students. For this purpose, a quasi-experimental design with pre-test post-test control group from quantitative research methods was used. Accordingly, in the control group, the teaching of the subject of fractions and operations with fractions in the 4th grade mathematics course was carried out according to the Ministry of National Education curriculum without any intervention. In the experimental group, the same subject was taught based on the Successful Intelligence Model. The study group of the research consists of 56 4th grade students studying in a public primary school in Esenler district of Istanbul province in the spring term of the 2022-2023 academic year. The study covers 4 weeks and 22 hours of class time. STAT test (Sternberg Triarchic Abilities Test) and Fractions Achievement Test were used as data collection tools in the study. The data of the study were analysed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package programme. Descriptive statistics, dependent sample t-test and independent sample t-test were used to analyse the data. According to the results of the study, it was seen that the Successful Intelligence Model had a significant effect in favour of the experimental group in the post-test mean scores of the mathematics achievement test of the experimental and control groups in terms of the subject of mathematics fractions. According to the results of STAT test analysis for intelligence sub-dimensions, it was found that the Successful Intelligence Model had a significant effect in favour of the experimental group in the analytical sub-dimension, practical sub-dimension and total test context in the post-test score comparisons of the control and experimental groups. As a result of the study, it was suggested that researchers should investigate the Successful Intelligence Model in different courses and subjects and examine its effects in different socio-cultural contexts. Teachers are recommended to apply the model to their classes and observe student achievement.
