Abstract:The Industrial Revolution, which began with the invention of steam engines in the 18th century, has been one of the most important milestones of humanity. The developments following the Industrial Revolution have brought the concept of industrial buildings to come into life, as well as migration from rural to urban areas, rapid population growth and uncontrolled decrease in natural resources. Industrial buildings shown continuous improvement and changes since the 18th century. The concept of sustainability, which emerged after the 1970s, was corresponded in both industrial production and industrial buildings. Criteria based green building evaluation systems which established to evaluate the sustainability of the buildings, also evaluate the indoor air quality of the buildings. This study aims to investigate the indoor air quality criteria of BREEAM and LEED in the context of industrial buildings, to compare with each other and to examine the effects of occupant health. Within the scope of this study; •The progress and the qualifications of industrial buildings have beenexamined, and classified according to production types, •The production, occupant acts, construction material and externalenvironment sourced pollutants in industrial buildings have defined and their effects on human health explained, •The indoor air quality criteria of the BREEAM International New Construction2016 and LEED Building Design and Construction Version 4.1 have definedand compared with each other, •BREEAM I+NC 2016's and LEED BD+C-4.1's indoor air quality criteria have evaluated in the scope of production sourced indoor air pollutants in industrialbuildings. As a result of this study; it was observed that BREEAM I+NC 2016 and LEED BD+C-4.1 systems are evaluating some of the construction materials sourced pollutants. But none of the production sourced pollutants have been evaluated. In the last chapter of this study, recommendations have made for improving indoor air quality criteria in BREEAM and LEED in the context of industrial buildings.
