Proje Özeti

Various concentric stakeholders are involved in construction supply chains with an integrated, cyclic and dependents characteristics of the industry. Most of the stakeholders, particularly suppliers, could hardly tolerate upfront costs when faced with the blockage in the payment pipeline that could result in unforeseen fluctuations in cash flows. Therefore, a flawless and secure financial transaction system is essential for sustainable performance of construction supply chains. Several steps and transactions are executed with recent technological advancements in many ways in construction projects. This study investigates the risks related to use of cryptocurrencies in construction supply chain as an alternative payment solution. For this purpose, factors hindering the adoption of cryptocurrencies in construction supply chains are identified through literature review and expert opinions. The risks are examined based on data collected from industry professionals. Mean score, Friedman’s test, and Mann-Whitney U test are aimed to be used to specify i) the most significant risk factors, ii) whether significant differences between the mean rank of the risk factors exist in each risk group, and iii) whether there are perception differences of the respondents based on expertise, past economy education, and use of cryptocurrencies, respectively. The results of this study can be used by practitioners who are expected to use cryptocurrencies in construction supply chain payment processes, which could provide confidence to project parties for their cash flow stabilities.
