Paris Agreement about climate was signed by many European countries including Türkiye in 2015. The aim of the agreement is reducing carbon emissions to keep rising of the global temperature below 2°C. Therefore, electrification of the transportation has gained importance. Electrical Vehicles (EV) have been rapidly developing due to carbon free environmental issues in many countries. Denmark purposes that all new cars should be carbon emission free by 2030.
Lithium – ion Batteries (LIBs) are the priority choice for EV applications due to their high energy and power density, long lifetime, and low self-discharge rates. However, the replenish time for LIBs are still longer than conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Therefore, fast charging technology is essential for EV applications.
In this project, reliability
of battery charging system with different charging control techniques are
investigated. DAB converter is used as PE converter. As EV charging is desired
to be reliable and low failure mechanisms, the reliability of DAB converter
important. Foster thermal network is used for evaluation of thermal stresses of
semiconductors. At PC control strategy, the effect of different pulse frequencies
is considered for lifetime of the semiconductors. Moreover, the thermal
analysis is achieved for CC and MSCC control strategies and compared with PC.
