This project focuses on the European
Union's cultural and language policies regarding its role in promoting
democracy, equality, inclusion, and a rule-based global order. The primary
objective of the course is to provide students with a solid understanding of
the tools and perspectives related to the EU's current strategies and policies
on culture and language, as well as to enhance their ability to grasp the EU's
vision for the future concerning multiculturalism, multilingualism, and
inclusion. The first track of the module is designed to equip students
registered for the Culture and Language course offered at the Faculty of
Education at Yıldız Technical University with a foundational understanding
of the significance of language and culture, recognizing language as a
fundamental aspect of society and exploring the interconnections among various
cultures. Subsequently, students will engage with the second track, which
focuses on the EU's cultural and language policies while emphasizing the
growing presence of populist and far-right parties across the EU to understand
the opportunities and challenges the EU faces in addressing this critical
issue.
