Proje Özeti

The injector used in common rail diesel engines plays an important role for fulfilling the predefined performance and emission targets. The injector nozzle is exposed to high temperatures. In this context, the dynamic conditions of the nozzle play a major role in both the design of the nozzle and the selection of the nozzle  material. After the design and manufacturing phase, the nozzle is sent to the customer for field tests and the temperatures to which the nozzle is exposed and the hardness degrees of the nozzle material are examined. Within this method the nozzle material selection is validated.  The engine conditions which the last generation injectors operate are constantly getting harder and the temperatures to which the nozzle material is exposed is always changing. This phenomenon has led to the need of recognition and identifying the degree of effects of the parameters that has an effect on material hardness. In this research the nozzle material hardness drop was investigated via using 3 different engine cycles that can led to higher temperatures in combustion chamber in a 1.6 liter common rail diesel engine. As a result of the research on the nozzles subjected to engine tests with different test cycles and durations, the heavy engine operating conditions are identified for injector nozzles and the parameters that has an effect on hardness are analyzed. It was aimed to make reliable designs with a better understanding of the most favorable conditions and engine test cyle for the right decisions.
