Project Abstract

Within the scope of the project, the usability of the wastes from Cappadocia Rock Carving Structures, which is a volcanic tuff, as building material is investigated. For this purpose, pozzolan material property has been introduced; These wastes were activated with alkalis to produce artificial building materials such as mortar and masonry unit elements. In addition, the production of injection material suitable for the original material for grouting (injection application), which is used for reinforcement in order to repair the cracks formed in rock carved structures, was carried out with these wastes.

 

During the last one year of the project, the model walls built with alkali activated mortar produced from natural stones and wastes brought from Cappadocia will be damaged by horizontal and vertical loading tests, and the cracks will be reinforced with the injection material we produce from waste material and subjected to various performance tests. In the final phase of the project, the natural formation-fairy chimney and rock carving structure, which is obtained from the necessary boards, will be injected with the material we produce and the structures will be monitored.
