Project Abstract

Mountain areas have an increasing socio-economic value since they are important regions in terms of sports, tourism and ecology. Demand for relevant geographic information are increased and cartographic design and visualisation techniques are improved in parallel as they are more needed. Mountain maps representing various geographic information in an accurate and understandable way are required for mountaineers to carry out their activities in security. Besides, geographic information system creation for search and rescue, tourism, ecology and national park management has gaining more importance because planning, management and decision-making capabilities concerning mountaineering and mountain area management can be increased, using spatial analysis and visualisation tools of geographic information system (GIS) softwares. It has been introduced a geographic information system which was implemented and also presented some spatial analyses, visualisations and thematic maps performed through this system.
