Özet

It is an admitted fact that people damage the ecological balance through their actions in order to supply their requirements. This act of harming through built environments has been based on the illusion that man is superior to nature and all related elements. Conventional process in the construction and housing industry also has a large share in the growth of this problem. This linear process, which starts from the design and continues till the demolish of the building at the end of its useful life, has been destroying the natural environment with a repetitive cycle of construction and destruction. In order to solve this problem, it has been stated that a new approach is required that will change the existing methods and paradigms and the use of open source in the field of architecture has been suggested. Within the scope of this research, the reflections of open source notion on the discipline of architecture were examined through examples and the positive returns on the natural environment were studied. As a result of the examinations, it has been reached that unlike the conventional system, the life process of the building is not considered linear, but as a circular process which allows interaction between actors, participation, transformation, reuse and local material use. It is believed that positive relations can be established between natural and built environment through this approach.
