Increasing demand for quality products in
engineering materials has led to the continuous
development of existing materials or necessity of
the discovery of new materials. In this study, the
effects of vibration casting on the grain refining
mechanism of primary (ore) and secondary (scrap)
Al7Si0,3Mg alloy which is one of the most
commonly used aluminum alloy were investigated.
The length of the dendrites whose morphology is
modified due to the effect of vibration applied
during solidification and the distances between the
secondary dendrite arms (SDAS) were determined
using light microscopy. The microstructural effects
of these changes have been interpreted.
