Özet

In this study the wind energy potential of Istanbul's Adalar District (Princes' Islands) has been tried to be determined. Wind speed values between the years of 2017 and 2019 have been received from Buyukada Meteorology Station and Adalar Buoy Station accordingly. Wind turbine micro-siting and energy production analysis were conducted through utilization of the WINDSIM program. The annual energy production of the off-shore wind power plant was determined to be 445,70 GWh/year, while its capacity factor was 41% and the annual energy production of the on-shore wind plant was determined to be 4,20 GWh/year while its capacity factor was 23,90%. The electricity consumption of the island's in 2019 was 171GWh/year. As such, it was been determined that the electricity requirement of the island could be met 93,3% by virtue of offshore wind power plants. The levelised cost energy of the Buyukada wind power plant was calculated to be 0,110 $/kWh, and the electricity generation cost for the off-shore wind power plant for the Demokrasi ve Ozgurluk (Democracy and Freedom) Island was calculated as 0,027 $/kWh. It has been observed that electricity generation works from island-based Renewable Energy Resources will provide an economic advantage to the investor.
