Agriculture and food production systems are facing a remarkable set of pressure over the coming decades. The hunger and malnutrition is an on-going problem. While the current population of the world is around 7.5 million people, it is predicted to rise to around 10 billion by 2050. Also, rapid urbanization, changing diets and lifestyle and economic growth have a tremendous impact on the food Industry for developing sustainable solutions. Modern and consolidated agriculture and food production, packaging, and logistics have become increasingly depended on limited non-renewable energy sources.  In this paper, energy inputs and outputs for the food manufacturing systems were assessed in developed and developing countries.
