Özet

Most of the human endeavors related to built environments affect the nature and consequently humankind adversely. With a deep examination, it can be revealed that rather than the activity itself, the problem basically originates from the perceptive which allows humans to consume nature freely. Unless this thinking system is changed, problematic activities will continue to reappear under different forms. As a replacement for limited and inconsistent sustainability approaches arising from deep-rooted mechanistic worldview, regeneration paradigm gives the mission of providing the necessary medium for obtaining mutual beneficial results to built environments in accordance with its aim to re-conceptualize the relationship between human and nature over a basis of equal partnership. This research aims to determine required components in order to systematize this approach, accordingly built environment notion is defined as a multidimensional eco-social system which consists of interrelated subsystems. This eco-social system is examined according to its properties, processes and actors whose responsibilities are further discussed through the identified stages: formation, operation and post-operation. With this examination, specific outcomes are obtained and it is believed that these findings bear a potential to regenerate the inaccurately rigidified notion through time. Consequently, a new conception for user, design and interaction of actors with different properties from conventional perspective is brought into discussion. With future studies, structuring a more intact conceptual system for regenerative built environments can be managed through deepened and diversified components and eventually it will become easily applicable.
