Life satisfaction has a direct impact on individual productivity and overall well-being. Housing satisfaction, as a key component of quality of life, plays a critical role in shaping this relationship. Research shows that living environments designed in accordance with individual needs significantly enhance both housing satisfaction and life quality.
This course aims to critically examine housing production in response to the changing needs of society under the influence of digital transformation. It explores the evolution of the information and communication society through the lens of sociological theories and technological advancements, with particular emphasis on how digitalization reshapes everyday life and spatial requirements.
A central focus of the course is the digitalization of housing. In this context, the integration of digital technologies into residential spaces, such as smart home systems, adaptive environments, and user-centered design solutions, is examined. The course addresses how emerging needs in the digital era, including new patterns of living, working, and consumption, are reflected in housing design and spatial organization.
Another key theme is the digitalization of housing production processes. The course investigates the role of digital tools and data-driven approaches in design, planning, construction, and management processes. It discusses how digital transformation influences decision-making, efficiency, quality, and responsiveness to user needs in housing production.
In addition, the course considers the broader relationship between the digitalization of society and housing production at the urban scale. Changing housing demands, emerging typologies, hybrid living and working models, and the reorganization of residential environments in response to digital infrastructures are explored. Through these discussions, the course aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of housing production not only as a physical outcome, but as a complex system shaped by social, technological, and managerial dynamics in the digital age.
