Özet

Deep excavations are mostly prefferred engineering applications to fulfill the need of built-up areas caused by overpopulation. Depending on the project conditions, it is crucial to provide economical precautions for excavation safety and to prevent deformation at adjacent structures in terms of geotechnical engineering. In this study, by using the displacement values of deep supported excavations, it is aimed to investigate the design and construction performances of deep supported excavations. In this context, considering the excavation height and deformation relations, the project and field displacement measurements of 102 sections of 15 deep excavations in and around Istanbul were examined primarily together with the information gathered from the literature studies. Secondly, the displacement results obtained from the numerical analyses of deep excavation projects are compared with field measurements considering the surrounding geological conditions in which the excavation was made.As a result of these comparisons, it is concluded that the majority of the investigated excavation projects are quite rigid in terms of displacements, whereas the rate of excavation projects exceeded the displacement limits is very small (1%).
