Özet:

Researchers are in quest of halogen free flame retardants such as phosphorus containing flame retardants (P-FRs) as they are the prominent alternatives to their counterparts. Stringent precautions for environment shifted the market toward environmentally-friendly formulations that prompt the use of nonleachable, covalently attached flame retardants to the polymer matrix attracted attention because of reducing the environmental pollution impact. Reactive functional phosphorus containing monomer makes it unprecedented for tailoring the properties of FRs that provide inherent flame retardancy to the materials. In this study, methacryl functional phosphorus containing monomer was synthesized and used further in free radical polymerization. DK-2 monomer synthesis was followed by using 3-(acryloyloxy)-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (AHM) and diphenylphosphine oxide via phospha-Michael addition. DK-2 monomer and acrylonitrile were mixed in different feed ratio and polymerized via free radical pathway. Finally, the polymer was characterized by 1H, 13C, 31P NMR, TGA, and photo-DSC studies were performed. Increasing the phosphorus monomer in the formulation resulted in increasing thermal properties of the materials.
