Biography

Ozan Erdinç received the B.Sc., M. Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from Yildiz Technical University (YTU), Istanbul, Turkey, in 2007, 2009, and 2012, respectively. Until May 2013, he was in the private sector in different positions including electrical installations, renewable energy investments, and as a procurement expert. In June 2013, he became a Postdoctoral Fellow in Portugal, under the EU-FP7 funded SINGULAR Project. Later, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, YTU, where in April 2016 he obtained the title of Associate Professor. On September 2021, he was appointed as a Full Professor at the same university. He was the Director of Energy Application and Research Center of YTU. He is currently IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Turkey Chapter Chair, the Head of IT Department of YTU, and Head of Alternative Energy Based Electric Systems Division at the Department of Electrical Engineering (YTU). He is the Sole Editor of the book entitled Optimization in Renewable Energy Systems (Butterworth-Heinemann Press, 2017) and the Co-Editor of the book entitled Pathways to a Smarter Power System (Academic Press, 2019). He has over 100 international publications with an h-index of 26 according to WoS and 34 according to Google Scholar. He supervised 3 Phd and 7 MSc theses, and still supervises over 10 theses in Electric Power System area. He has been the PI and Main consultant of 20 projects with different industrial partners with projects budgets reaching 2 million Euros individually and over 5 million Euros in total. His research interests are hybrid renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, power system operation, and smart grid technologies.


Prof. Erdinç has served as the Honorary Chair, General Co-Chair, Technical Chair, and Technical Program Committee Member in several IEEE Sponsored or IEEE Co-sponsored conferences. He gave numerous keynote speeches, invited lectures, etc. in different international and national organizations including IEEE sponsored/co-sponsored conferences. Prof. Erdinç was the recipient of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT - Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science, Research and Technology) Post-Doctoral Research Grant Award (among over 1,000 applicants) of 2014, Turkish Science Academy Distinguished Young Scientist Award (TUBA GEBIP) of 2020 and IEEE Turkey Research Encouragement Award of 2021.

Prof. Erdinç is a Senior Member of IEEE, an Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy, Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering Computer Sciences and an Associate Editor for the IEEE Access, IEEE Systems Journal, IET Smart Grid, IET Renewable Power Generation, and IET Generation, Transmission&Distribution.
