Özet

Logarithm has a very widespread usage and importance in both the basic sciences and the engineering fields. The logarithm was first described and used by the Scottish mathematician John Napier (1550-1617) and published the definition, rules and tables of the logarithm in his book "The Logarithmorum Canonis Descriptio" in 1614. The logarithm defined by Napier is based on e (  ) base. Henry Briggs (1551-1630), a British mathematician and Napier's friend, also worked on the definition of a logarithm of 10 base and he completed revised logarithmic tables of 10 base in 1624, which are what we call the “Common Logarithmic Table” to day. In the following years, other mathematicians worked on the expansion of numbers and decimals in these tables for logarithm. In these studies, logarithm rules prepared by Napier and Briggs were taken in logarithm calculations according to 10 base or e ( ) base tables.

In this study, irrational functions were examined and an irrational function was proposed for the logarithm calculations. The function has been suggested as a new logarithmic function, completely different from the commonly used "curve fitting" concept. The obtained results were compared with the logarithm values obtained by the functions  and   .
