Özet

Nowadays, one of the most important cause of air pollution is pollutants originating from diesel engine. Diesel engine emissions are limited by strict regulations. Compliance with possible EURO VII regulations will become more difficult in the future. Manufacturers have to find innovative solutions to limit NOx

emissions while meeting market requirements. Having a reliable and consistent diesel combustion makes it easy to meet emissions targets, equipment endurance limits to ensure optimal engine performance and remain competitive in the market. Optimization tools are an essential to achieve the optimal fuel consumption. In this study, the non-linear behaviour of NOx emission and fuel consumption were modelled by Gaussian regression method. Experimental data based on the multiple injection strategy in a CI engine were obtained by the way of dynamometer test and afterwards applied to Gaussian regression method. It was determined that the pilot and the main two stage injection reduced NOx by %11.6 compared to the only main injection strategy. On the other hand, it is seen that fuel consumption increased by %1.5. The two pilot and main three stage injection configuration reduced NOx emissions by %16 compared to the single main injection configuration. But, the fuel consumption value increased by 3.2%. Furthermore the effect of multiple injection on greenhouse gases CO2 and N2O is assessed from the obtained results.
