Tunç Durmaz is an Associate Professor at the Economics Department at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul. His research interests lie in economics of climate change, carbon capture and storage, energy storage, electricity economics and markets, technological change and green growth, and investment, consumption, and production decisions of prosumers. His research has been published in journals such as Energy Economics, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Environmental Modeling & Assessment, Climate Change Economics , and Economics Of Energy & Environmental Policy to name a few. At Yildiz Technical University, Durmaz teaches courses in Microeconomics, Environmental Economics (Masters), Energy and Resource Economics, Economics of Regulation and Competition Policy, and Introduction to Computer Science. 

He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics. In his Ph.D. thesis, he scrutinizes the role of different technologies and technological change can play in facilitating green economic growth. From 2015 to 2016, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Energy and Environment at the City University of Hong Kong.
