Bu çalışmada sembolik anlamlar içeren Romantizm akımı incelenmiş, Romantizm sanatçılarından Caspar David Friedrich’in eserlerinde işlenen “yalnızlık” konusu ele alınmıştır. On Dokuzuncu yüzyılda yaşanan önemli olaylar, sanat alanında bireyi ön plâna çıkarırken, toplumsal sorunları
lirik bir anlatım diline taşımıştır. Doğanın gücünün ön planda olduğu Romantizm; bu yönüyle geleneksel anlayışa bir tepkiyi ifade eder. Romantizm, ortaya çıktığı On Dokuzuncu yüzyılda “aşırı
duyguya” vurgu yapar; insanı doğaya karşı duyarlı olmaya yöneltir. Söz konusu anlayış, ressama
da yön verir. Doğanın yüceliği karşısında aciz kalan insanın durumu, sanatçının eserlerinde kendini gösterir. Bu durumdan yola çıkarak sanatçının resimlerinde görülen yalnızlık ardındaki hüzünlü
ruh hali araştırılmış ve nedenleri açığa çıkarılmıştır.

Abstract
This study examinated stream containing the symbolic meanings of romance, the romance
of the artists have dealt Caspar David Friedrich’s works loneliness subject processed. Important
events of the 19th century, when removing individuals to the forefront in the arts, social issues
has moved to a lyrical narrative languauge. Romance is in the forefront of the power of nature; It
refers to a reaction to the traditional understanding in this respect. Romanticism, emphasizes the
extreme emotions that emerge in the 19th century, is headed to be sensitive to human nature. He
said understanding, gives direction to the painter. Status of the powerless in the face of nature’s
glory manifests itself in the artist’s work. In this case, starting from behind loneliness sad mood
seen in the artist’s paintings was investigated and the causes are uncovered.
