In recent years, distributed generation (DG)
has increased rapidly due to the government's incentive
policies. Therefore, two-way energy transaction between
grid and householders with DG (prosumers) has become
common. Moreover, many benefits such as economic
revenue, carbon dioxide saving, and peak demand
reduction are obtainable. However, this situation has
become an increasingly severe problem. High PV
penetration with a low self-consumption ratio (SCR) leads
to grid power losses and overvoltage issues. This paper
investigates the impact of SCR on power losses and
voltage fluctuation in low voltage distribution networks
(LVDN). Findings indicate that an overvoltage problem
occurs if SCR remains under a certain value. The power
losses decrease as the SCR increases. Nevertheless, when
the SCR approaches a particular value, the losses increase
accordingly.
