Rubble-mound breakwaters are subjected to not only wave actions but also, other types of environmental loading, such as earthquakes. Therefore the design of coastal structures should take into account the most relevant factors in each case, including seismic loading. The objective of this study is to present the dynamic response of breakwaters during dynamic loadings such as earthquakes. An experimental work has been carried out for homogeneous breakwater structures at different seismic frequencies and amplitudes. The model tests showed that amplification ratio between base and crown depends on frequency of base motion. Volumetric strains and vertical strains at different displacement amplitudes depend on the magnitude of base motions.
