Artificial Intelligence in Human-Centred Architecture: A Bibliometric Study of Public Space and Child-Friendly Environments

Özet

This study explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), architecture, and urban design, with a focus on child-centred and well-being-oriented perspectives in public space research. Despite the rapid growth of AI applications in the built environment, existing studies largely prioritise infrastructure optimisation and spatial analysis, often neglecting children’s spatial experiences. To address this gap, a multi-stage research approach combining bibliometric analysis, systematic review, and thematic analysis was adopted. Initially, 871 publications from Web of Science and Scopus (2006–2026) were analysed using VOSviewer to identify dominant research trends. This dataset was then screened using PRISMA, resulting in 39 relevant studies. A further filtering with child-related keywords revealed only four studies explicitly addressing child-centred perspectives. Finally, a thematic classification identified major research areas within the field. The findings highlight a significant gap in child-focused research, emphasising the need for more inclusive and human-centred approaches in AI- driven urban studies.
