Abstract

In this study, it was suppressed the vibrations by applying Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control method to the secondary suspension system between the railway vehicle body and bogies to ensure passenger comfort. The main reason for LQG control is that the data collected with the help of less sensors allow us to estimate other situations. In addition, this control method helps to reduce the costs of controlling the system. By the way, random road profile as a road disturbance impact were selected to apply the model. The vibrations in the body of the rail vehicle system were reduced by the LQG control method and the actuating forces required to reduce these vibrations were determined. Consequently, excessive amplitudes were reduced to very low levels and passenger comfort was ensured. Moreover, successful results were obtained in the frequency domain.
