Özet
As information technology infrastructure continues to evolve, the need for firewall systems to protect networks from cyber threats has increased. The selection of a firewall involves several conflicting criteria, which leads to uncertainty in the decision-making process. Fermatean fuzzy sets provide a flexible framework for modeling uncertainty by allowing greater freedom in representing membership and non-membership degrees compared to Intuitionistic and Pythagorean fuzzy sets. The objective of this paper is to introduce a novel entropy measure for Fermatean fuzzy sets and to integrate it with the Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) method for firewall selection. The proposed entropy measure is validated through axiomatic proof, and a numerical example is provided to demonstrate the practical applicability of the proposed approach. Comparative analysis with existing Fermatean fuzzy entropy measures verifies the consistency and stability of the obtained rankings. The results confirm that the proposed approach effectively addresses uncertainty and ambiguity in firewall selection. The developed framework can be applied to other real-world MCDM problems involving complex and uncertain environments.
