Determination of the amount of acid and base in the environment is an analysis process that is
frequently required in analytical chemistry and industrial field. By using the titration method, results
can be obtained quickly and at low cost. In this method, choosing the appropriate indicator is an
important factor that can affect the accuracy of the result. Normally, each indicator has a pH
conversion range in which the color change occurs. Below and above this value solution has become
different colors. By using double or triple indicator mixtures, this color turning range is narrowed. In
this study, pH conversion ranges and transformation colors of different indicator mixtures were
investigated using hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions. Newly developed bromphenol
blue / dimethyl yellow (pH = 3.4 - 3.75; orange → blue) indicator after titration using methylene blue
/ dimethyl yellow (pH 3.23 - 3.65; violet blue → dark blue) indicator mixture in the literature Trials
with the mixture were repeated. Then the results were evaluated by changing the mixing ratios. When
the obtained results were examined, it was seen that a more precise measurement could be made by
obtaining a narrower turning range than in the literature for this pH range when using a mixture with
a bromphenol blue / dimethyl yellow (h / h) ratio of 4.5 / 0.5.
