Özet

In the cup drawing process, transformation of the material into the desired shape without damage is the main objective for the industry. Tearing is one of the failure modes observed in the cup drawing process and causes material loss. This failure mode is directly related to the tool geometry, material properties and the selected process parameters. In the present article, the tearing in the rectangular cup drawing was studied for the AISI 304 stainless steel which is used in the various industries such as automotive, food and catering, defence industries etc. A constitutive model consists of the fourth-order polynomial yield criterion and a fracture model regarding the plastic work concentration were used to predict the tearing. The fracture model was separately calibrated with the uniaxial tension and bulge tests to investigate the effect of the test type on the fracture prediction. It was noticed that the prediction performance was noticeably increased when the damage indicator obtained from the bulge test was employed in the numerical simulations. Moreover, the crack initiation location and its propagation path could be accurately estimated.
