Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of small, autonomous nodes which are capable of communicating with each other over a wireless link. Minimizing the size and the power consumption of these nodes is an important research topic. A WSN node consists of a microcontroller, a wireless communication controller, a secondary storage module, and different types and combinations of sensors. We propose a wireless sensor node design that aims to be minimal in size and power consumption without significantly degrading processing power. © 2009 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
