The idea of a
single payment method is quite important in terms of facilitating the use of
public transportation services and making them more accessible. Currently,
different ticket or card systems are used for different public transportation
vehicles in many cities, which sometimes causes users to have difficulties in
transportation planning and payments. With a single payment method, access to
different public transportation vehicles can be provided with a single ticket
or card. This can enable users to use public transportation services more
comfortably and efficiently. As well as facilitating public transport use, it
can also ensure that payment transactions are carried out quickly and securely.
This can reduce waiting times on public transport, allowing users to have a
more comfortable and efficient journey. Additionally, this method can increase
the usage of public transportation services, which can help reduce problems
such as environmental and traffic congestion. However, for the single payment
method application to be successful, cooperation between organizations
operating different public transportation vehicles is required. In addition,
standardizing and making ticket or card systems compatible is also important.
The costs and technological infrastructure needs of the single payment method
implementation should also be considered. In conclusion, the idea of a single
payment method can facilitate the use of public transportation services and
make them more accessible. However, cooperation between different public
transportation organizations and making ticket/card systems compatible is
necessary for its implementation. In this publication, we will examine the
studies, examples, and applications related to the single payment method in our
country and around the world.
