Özet
Abstract
Teaching profession is a vocation of professional status in the field of education which possesses social, cultural, economic, scientific, artistic and technological dimensions, which is based on expert knowledge and skills and which requires academic study and vocational education. Just like any profession, vocational guidance and psychological counseling is needed for a healthy selection and performance in the field of teaching profession. For teaching profession, the individual needs to have a detailed view of himself, have correct and detailed information about teaching profession, possess correct decision-making skills for teaching profession, develop a positive attitude towards teaching and possess features that teaching profession requires such as being able to cooperate, taking on responsibilities and communicating effectively. In this respect, it is suitable that the students whose traits are appropriate for teaching profession and who are willing to be teachers are guided to institutions which train teachers. Teacher trainees, who have selected the profession and who entered education faculties in order to receive the education, should acquire knowledge of the subject matter and human psychology, teaching and communication skills. The individual who has selected teaching profession should also receive vocational guidance and psychological counseling in order to adapt to teaching profession, achieve satisfaction and efficiency in their profession and prepare for retirement.
