Abstract

Since measurement uncertainties affects manufacturing processes directly and/or indirectly, they should be well studied for a perfect process control. Therefore estimating, analyzing, reducing and reporting measurement uncertainties at manufacturing systems have vital importance. In automotive industry, measurement uncertainties of piston surface roughness measurement operations were selected for examination of this work. Not only 2D surface but also 3D topographic surface measurement uncertainty errors were examined to meet the high quality demands of the products.
