Depending on high efficiency high power density and the ability of providing high torgue at low speeds, axial flux motors became an important field of late years. However this motor has acoustic noise and stroke vibration because of its structure. Throughout this study the ways of lowering cogging moment in axial flux permanent magnet magnet motors has been explored. Open slot structure in stator and different magnet structure and skew methods in rotor has been studied. Effects of different skew angled fan, triangle and elliptical shaped magnets on motor performance has been tested by using 3D finite element analyzing method. Results compared with 140 degree fan type reference motor and improvings in cogging torgue component has been showed.
