Abstract

Material characterization is crucial for the effective utilization and advancement of energy materials in sustainable energy production and storage systems. This process involves determining physical and electrochemical properties to understand material performance, optimize design, assess applicability, and ensure quality control. Physical characterization methods examine macro and micro properties, while electrochemical methods focus on aspects relevant to electrochemical cells and batteries. These techniques contribute to developing reliable and efficient energy systems by enhancing material performance and durability. This chapter mainly focuses on the basic physical and electrochemical characterization techniques used in energy materials and gives a specific review of the fuel cell.
