Özet

Since the ancient ages, sport activities and stadiums have been one of the indispensable elements of the cities and city life. These points where large crowd of people are gathered are mostly located alongside the city walls due to the functional necessities. In all historical cities that are still inhabited in today's world, the original urban texture in periods they are established has experienced a serious trauma in response to the demographical changes. The circumstances where the cities grow with no plan in response to these changes leave these activity fields that should have been located alongside the city walls ideally, in the city centers. Ali Sami Yen Stadium, located in Mecidiyekoy, which is one the most populated centers in Istanbul, is a unique case where this exact situation exists, and this exact difficulty is experienced in a great extent. Its location within a residential area, especially when accompanied with its function and the (transportation) problems that are caused by the urban life, creates a serious noise problem, and affects negatively the life quality of inhabitants of the area. In this study, the noise maps have been created to evaluate the Ali Sami Yen Stadium in noise-related aspects, and the outcomes have been compared against the limits allowed. Moreover, within the scope of the study, a public survey has been conducted, and the compatibility between the subjective responds and the results obtained from the noise maps and noise level measurements have been demonstrated.
