Özet

We investigate the estimation of knee joint angle using wearable inertial measurement units (IMUs). Magneto-meters are often affected by disturbances in the surrounding magnetic field, therefore, this study focuses on only accelerometer and gyroscope data. Two IMU sensors were attached, some in arbitrary orientations, to the femur and tibia segments to measure the knee angle during knee flexion-extension movements. The collected data were processed using several estimation methods, and the resulting knee angles were compared with reference measurements obtained from a video-based motion analysis system. Results demonstrate that acceptable accuracy can be achieved even when IMU sensors are not aligned with the body axis and magnetometer data is not used.
