Abstract

It is known very well that hydropower energy is a type of the most important renewable energy in the world, and of course its positive impacts on the environment should not be ignored. There is a great hydroelectric potential in Turkey, especially in the Eastern Black Sea Region. Because the Eastern Black Sea Region has a good geographical location and climate for hydro energy in Turkey. In addition, the Eastern Black Sea Region is the rainiest region and there are a lot of rivers also. In this study, small hydropower potential in the Eastern Black Sea Region has been determined by using hydraulics and hydrological characteristics, water discharges and water drop (altitude) of the rivers.
