A Suggestion for Improving the Lighting Design of Zeyrek World Heritage Site

The lighting of historical buildings and their environment is of great importance in terms of emphasizing the importance of these buildings in the city. The aim of this study is to examine the current lighting design of a region within the Zeyrek Mosque and its Surroundings, and to develop a lighting design proposal in order to improve its existing design. The selected project area was modelled via SketchUp program with the help of onsite observations, photographs and plans. The model was transferred to the Lumion program and the night view of the urban area was modelled using the features of the existing luminaires. Then, a lighting design proposal was developed to improve the existing lighting design.  At the end of the study, it was emphasized that it is necessary to approach the issue of illuminating a historical environment by taking into account all urban values included in the region.
