Solar energy systems have experienced significant growth worldwide, making the management of photovoltaic
(PV) systems crucial for enhancing their efficiency. This management heavily relies on accurately determining
the amount of solar radiation falling onto properly positioned PV panels. The precise calculation of solar
radiation potential on PV panels positioned at the correct angle contributes to increased energy production. This
study involves the comparison of mathematically calculated solar radiation potential and actual measurement
results for PV panels situated at the optimal inclination angle of 37° on the plane in Hakkari province. The
mathematical calculations were performed using equations found in the literature. Additionally, the measurement
values obtained from a pyranometer positioned at Hakkari University's Çölemerik Vocational School Campus,
aligned to the same angle (37°) and facing south as the PV panel, were used for verification. The results obtained
through the mathematical calculation method align with the actual measurement results when PV panels in the
study area are installed at their optimum tilt angle.
