In this study, the effects of the computer educational software which was prepared on the basis sixteen theoritical design principles taking place in the academic literature, on the academic achievement and retention in high school physics instruction was investigated. The study was carried out in 75. Yil Anatolian Teacher Training High School in the second semester of the 2003-2004 educational year. The research sample was divided into two groups, an experimental group comprised of 24 students and a control group of 24 students. The result of the study showed that the level of academic achievement and retention of learning significantly higher for the experimental group than the control group.
