Özet

In this study, an experimental study of sloshing for two viscous liquids were carried out at three different fluid heights. The effect of viscosity on sloshing has been investigated in a chamfered tank. The tank has been excited in one direction with a harmonic motion at different excitation frequencies. The free surface elevation is tracked for various filled fluid levels, then compared with each other for different liquids. The three pressure sensors are mounted on the side walls at a decent distance, respectively. In addition to that, the response of the structure is obtained by strain gauges installed on the counter side of the pressure sensors. The fluid behaviors are characterized experimentally; viscosity changed the behaviors of fluids and also its energy dissipation on the sidewalls of the tank. It is found that less free surface deformation and pressure are observed because of the viscous friction in more viscous fluids. The phenomenon of the wave shape of fluids, a mixture of liquid with air and their possible results are also presented and discussed in detail.
