Özet

Conventional university ranking methodologies are limited by subjective survey biases and fixed weighting methods. In this study, the academic performance of A1 and A2 level research universities in Türkiye is evaluated by means of an Intuitionistic Fuzzy (IF) CRITIC-PROMETHEE II framework. The ambiguity in the data is expressed by a quadratic fuzzification operator. The IF-CRITIC method is employed to determine objective criteria weights without external influence, and the IF-PROMETHEE II algorithm is used with normalized Hamming distance to obtain a complete outranking flow. The empirical analysis is carried out with six primary indicators from the 2026 QS World University Rankings dataset. It is found that the objective weighting approach decreases the influence of subjective reputation metrics. The international research network and faculty-student ratio emerge as the most significant evaluation criteria. Structural differences are observed in comparison to the global QS evaluations. Institutions noted for higher levels of cross-border collaboration and research impact are ranked above those with a primary focus on established prestige. The proposed framework is regarded as a means to reduce expert subjectivity and to provide a mathematically grounded approach for institutional assessment.
