Today, natural resource use and the amount of waste are increasing at appreciable rate. Contribute to efforts to reduce the use of natural resources to ensure the waste recycling instead of raw material use is encouraged. For this purpose, to be used in the production process, separation of recyclable components in commingled solid waste is required. Separation at source point process is a useful approach to solid waste management issues. Separation at source point process is implemented by householders. Householders' approaches to the separation at source point process in residential areas may be different from each other. Determination of the approaches of householders about separation at source point process is required for sustainable solid waste management studies and its expectations. In the separation at source point process, because of householders undertaken the actual task at the process determining the household work is important. In order to identify the approaches of householders to the separation at source the survey was applied a questionnaire with 19 different questions hand in a random sample of total 200 different householders in Uskudar and Besiktas. The findings of approaches of householders about environmental problems in the districts were evaluated. The findings suggest that householders are willing to participate in separate at source point studies, as shown by 33% in Uskudar and 27% in Besiktas. But, the findings suggest that, "if the legal obligation", householders are to participate in separate at source point studies, as shown by 48% in Uskudar and 35% in Besiktas. The approaches householders to the separation at source were also determined depending on the ages, income and educational level of householders.
