This study presents the design and analysis of 3 phase squirrel cage induction motor (IM). This
motor have 4 kW and 36 slots, 4 poles. First, the design of the asynchronous motor is designed using
traditional methods. Afterward, the dimensions and losses calculated by conventional methods are
compared with the finite element method (FEM). FEM is one of the most powerful tools used in electrical
engineering, and it is generally in good agreement with experimental results. After the design of the 3-
phase squirrel-cage induction motor is done, the effects of different rotor slot geometry on squirrel cage
IM are examined without changing the area of the rotor bars. Electromagnetic performances such as
current and torque in different rotor bar geometries is investigated.
