Özet

Interpretation and presentation of cultural heritage sites play a fundamental role in the sustainability of heritage assets since they are seen as one of the most reliable sources of our common past. From the earliest preservation efforts, almost every single attempt underlines the significance of interpretation of heritage values by referring to it as public communication. Despite the importance of these concepts and today’s technological potentials, there are few effective applications in conservation fields like animation and augmented reality. However, more effective methods such as kinetic architecture which have moving, or shape-shifting structural elements may be utilized. Such architectural solutions which are efficient in various forms define great potential for the interpretation and presentation of cultural assets. In the light of these aspects, this paper investigates the possibility of using kinetic architectural applications as a part of interpretation and presentation programs in cultural heritage sites. This study also explores the potential contribution of using kinetic architectural solutions to trigger public appreciation for larger conservation aims. Beside these issues, it investigates the adaptability of kinetic architectural applications to conservation areas. Also, it evaluates this potential method based on the basic aspects of contemporary conservation principles. By this way this research seeks a way to include kinetic architectural solutions into the contemporary conservation principles as method of interpretation and presentation. This paper tries to pave the way for more sustainable conservation and preservation approaches with a better understanding of the cultural heritage.
